A closer listen

One spectrum. Different balances.

Noise colors describe how energy is distributed across frequencies. Brown emphasizes the low end, pink has equal energy per octave, and white has equal power per unit of frequency. Those different balances are what you hear as rumble, rush and hiss.

Compare by ear, at your own pace.

Press play, then switch between the seven colors in the preview. The volume control stays where you set it, but perceived loudness can change, so adjust for comfort. These are illustrative browser previews, not a loudness-matched listening test.

Weave means mix · The forthcoming app

You do not have to choose just one.

Finding a color you enjoy is the starting point. Weaving is the act of mixing noise colors. In the forthcoming NoiseWeave app, you can combine their characters and adjust the balance to create a personal sound.

Which noise color is best for focus or sleep?

There is no universal winner. Try a low, comfortable level and choose a sound you enjoy. NoiseWeave is a listening app, not a treatment for sleep or attention conditions. Your speakers and surroundings can also change your preference.
