What is brown noise?
Brown noise puts more weight on low frequencies, giving it a deeper, rounder character than pink or white noise. Think of a soft rumble rather than a bright hiss. The colour describes the balance of frequencies, not a recording of a particular place.
Find your background for focus.
If you prefer a low sound while reading or working, start here. Listen quietly and compare it with pink noise. There is no best colour for everyone: the useful choice is the one you find comfortable in your space.
Weave means mix · The iPhone and iPad app
Start deep. Add a little air.
In the NoiseWeave app, use brown as the base and bring in a little white for a brighter edge, or pink for a softer rush. Weaving means mixing noise colours and adjusting their balance until the sound feels like yours.

Why does brown noise sound different on my phone?
Small speakers may reproduce less of the low end. Headphones or larger speakers can make the difference between brown, pink and white easier to hear. Keep the volume comfortable; a deeper sound does not need to be louder.
